Vern S. Cherewatenko,
MD, MEd is the founder
of HealthMax Incorporated, a medical wellness company, and is the
Company's President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He
is a founder of the 'Cares For America' program that provides
medical services for patients who then volunteer time at a charitable
organization to pay off their bill. He is a founder of the American
Association of Patients and Providers, Inc. a non-profit organization
to promote changes in healthcare that are wellness-focused and promote
patient choice. The AAPP 'SimpleCare' program was recently highlighted
on NBC National News, Scripps-Howard News Papers, the Wall Street
Journal and several other national publications.
Dr. Cherewatenko
is the author of a number of patient education programs, doctor education
programs, and has written a book titled The Diabetes Cure
printed February, 1999 by HarperCollins Publishers. Dr. Cherewatenko
is authoring a second book titled, The Stress Cure. He was
a national speaker for the ASBP - The American Society of Bariatric
Physicians, the only organized society of physicians who specialize
in obesity, and was active on their Continuing Medical Education Program
Committee.
He has been involved both locally and nationally in designing
and implementing workable and creative approaches to the healthcare
access and reimbursement crisis such as the 'Cares for America' Program
and SimpleCare Program.
Dr. Cherewatenko is board certified by the
American Board of Family Practice and is Board Eligible by the American
Board of Bariatric Medicine. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree
from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1986 and completed
his Family Practice Residency at the University of Washington, Valley
Medical Center, Family Practice Residency in 1989. He also has a Masters
Degree of Education in Counseling and a BS in Psychology & Pre-Medicine
from Montana State University.
